Day 14 - Lunch with MSP Liam McArthur.

Today we had lunch with the Orkney member of the Scottish Parliament, Liam McArthur. I sat right in front of him at lunch (which was quite in intimidating, I'll admit) and I was very self-conscious about what I was eating for lunch. :]

He had a lot of great insights to the Scottish government that confirmed many of my thoughts and hypotheses about the government itself. He was incredibly nice and spoke very fondly of Orkney as his home.

Our next trip was to the Orkney Museum to gain some more knowledge on how Orkney's prehistoric remnants and their history played into creating a significant Orkadian identity. The museum was small, but it showed how strongly the Orkadians thought of themselves not of English or Scottish identities, but strictly Orkadian. It provided further evidence that Orkney could possibly secede from Scotland if Scotland were to become an independent country.

I had more fish and chips for dinner tonight - it was much better, by far. The Shore Inn has done a great job with their meals here!

Tomorrow: Trip to Edinburgh, the last leg of our trip!
